i'm really, really getting sick of death. first my friend jason passed away from cancer. next was andy, the drummer for the rocketz, that was in an auto accident. we weren't friends, but i'd met the guy a few times and we were acquaintances. i really liked him. then dave, another acquaintance that i really liked here in the uk died in a motorcycle accident the other week. i found out last night about a really good friend of mine's dad passing away. i also found out last night about zig taking his own life. i found out this morning about lux interior.
SOMEONE MAKE IT STOP! well, hell, i know it can't stop, but can we at least press the pause button long enough for my head to stop spinning?

uni finally started again for me yesterday. the module yesterday was called Mass media to multimedia. it was a general option for me (not a required course) as it's an RTVF course instead of just film, but i decided it would be a good introduction to the RTVF world. anyway, it looks like it's going to be an okay class... nothing too terribly exciting or anything. best part about it though is i found out it only meets every other monday! woo hoo!
i don't have classes on tuesdays or fridays so today is errand running day. what that also means is that every other week i have a 4 day weekend!
i've been so busy in the rush up to christmas that i haven't had much computer time. school broke a week ago, and i've been running around with jossy everyday since.
he and i were in london last weekend for restless' last ever UK gig. astro zombies opened. it was amazing to finally see them. i love the astro zombies. i have pics, but i haven't had time to get them off my camera yet.
this will be my first christmas away from my family. i'm not really sure how i feel about that. i love my family, and i know i'm going to miss them terribly. however, another part of me is excited to see the kids faces light up christmas morning. i've never been around that before either. it's also a christmas in a new country with new customs and traditions. that's going to be cool as well. so, looks like it's a season of firsts for me.
i've mentioned before that we live surrounded by forest land. well, the other day the family and i took the dogs out for an hour long walk in the woods. it's was amazing. the fog had rolled in thick. the trees were tall and the air seemed to be moving all around us. the frost was thick on the ground and the puddles were iced over. the air was crisp, and i was glad to be wrapped up in layers of clothing, gloves, hat, etc. the area we went to is called fair oaks pools. it's got about 5 natural pools that jossy goes fishing in sometimes. the water was freezing. shadow, our german shepard, jumped in one and was all frosty by the time we returned to the car.
i'm messing about online before i leave for my introduction to media practices class, and i read something posted by a friend of mine on a forum. it's oh so true, and i thought i'd post it here.

keep the good healing energy coming. my back's feeling sooooo much better this morning. not 100%, but not fully consumed by pain either. hooray! progress!
so i went to the doctor today about my back. i got 5 shots of a mixture of a short term anti-inflammatory, a long term one, and a muscle relaxer. i also got prescriptions for both muscle relaxers and pain killers that aren't supposed to effect my ability to drive. keep in mind that these shots were administered directly into the muscles that were spasming and were directly next to my spine. the needle was 2" at least. that's what my mom says. i chose not to look at it. most of the shots were just a bit uncomfortable because of the burning when the medicine went into them, but one of them was really really painful. i know how to manage pain... well, at least not make my pain so noticeable to others. this one shot made me actually cry. that's how bad it was.
i already feel some relief, but it's still far from 100%.
my prescriptions should finally be ready in an hour. my mom's asleep on the sofa behind me. once they're ready, we'll pick them up. i'm then headed off to her house since they just got a new therapeutic hot tub that the doc ordered me into. i'll be staying the night there since sometimes it's really hard for me to do some of the things i need to do, you know?
one good thing... the doc did say that 80% of the people that receive this shot say they feel 50% better within 24 hours.
wish me luck considering i'm getting in my car saturday to drive to california.
